    - Nature and the city
    - “Through the Looking Glass” (like a picture with some sort of frame or window)
    - CCNY HOMEYS!!! (aka take pictures of eachother)
    - or maybe just taking pictures of our neighborhoods and choosing the one that best represents what nyc is to us, like we did in the beginning of arts in nyc.
    - This last theme i’m taking from english class — a picture that best represents what the word “home” means to us.

i like the idea of taking pictures of our neighborhood because thats what defines us the most. Also, it would be convenient for all of us to do this.

are we still doing different themes in groups or one large theme?

I like that last theme as well- i think we shud do what home means to us… and someone needs to represent staten island! lol
but seriously, i think that works out best.

I think the theme of “home” is good. However, it might not only be exclusive to our class. New York is home to most of the CUNY students. I think that if we can someway capture the feeling of home in a picture (rather than say your apartment building or house) then our pictures would be more complex and meaningful.

yeah i like the “home” idea, i think it allows for a greater diversity of pictures. with any other theme, theres a limited amount of leeway but becasue “home” is so broad it will give us each opportunity to do our own thing and say something individual with our photos but still be united in a way. cheers to stephen for all of his suggestions! =)

what did you guys end up doing?
it was a nice day, so i went to riverbank state park, i guess this could go under showing nature in the city, or as my idea of home because it’s tranquil.. or something.

    here you go billy:

    Dear Class of 2011,

Once you’ve taken your digital photograph this Sunday for Snapshot NYC 2007,
you’ll need to transfer it to your computer and then upload it to the web
    gallery.

We would like you to do this immediately after you take the photo–or in any case by Monday evening (11/12). Don’t wait too long–the sooner we can get the gallery built, the more we’ll all have to look at!

If you’re not sure how to get the photos from your camera to your computer, you can find some instructions at
    http://macaulay.cuny.edu/itf/wiki/index.php/Snapshot_2007_Instructions

It’s best to use a digital camera, rather than a cellphone, for these photos, since the resolution will be much higher and the photos sharper and clearer when they are printed. But we are interested in capturing your view of NYC on this date, so if your view comes from a cellphone camera, that can be part of the project–and you can comment on that in your caption.

The website for this year’s event is at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/gallery. This
is where you’ll submit your photo, and where you can view and comment on
those of your classmates as they are put up.

Attached to this email is a Word document with instructions on how to submit
your photo to us. If you need help, the Tech Fellow working with your Seminar
1 class will be happy to work with you.

    Some things to remember:

    * You may only submit ONE photograph for the event.
    * We will have your digital photo printed for the Gallery exhibit at the
    Macaulay Center.
    * Save your photo with a filename that would be its title.
    * You may view last year’s photos at
    http://macaulay.cuny.edu/snapshot-nyc-2006.

Looking forward to what you have to show us!
    **************

So, is the final theme “home”?
Also, there are three days that we can pick from to go to the event: dec 4, dec 5, or dec 6? so when is everybody planning to go..so we can all try to RSVP on the same day and represent CCNY
    :D :D :D :D

Crossing the Border between my two homes…..
I took this at the border between Nassau County and Queens. My left leg was in Nassau and my right, in Queens.

Good thing the theme was homes. I hadn’t really checked this blog so I didn’t know our theme, but I fortunately took one that I can connect with our collaborated theme. Good choice guys!

    individualism should be the theme

so we can have two in one! :)
