The Arts in New York City

So here I am at the Metropolitan Opera again, 8AM in the morning, 2 hours before the box office opens so I can stand in line and attempt to get student rush tickets for Madama Butterfly. And yes, they give out free internet here. It’s awesome. Tomorrow I’m probably going to see that H.G. Wells thing at 59E59. It’s gonna be one hell of a weekend.

My outlook for Madama Butterfly is pretty good, now that I know what to expect from opera now that I can appreciate it. Flipping through the plotline on one of the opera sites, I’m recalling small details that I remember from almost 10 years ago when I saw this opera for the first time. It’s somewhat nostalgic to envision being completely bored out of my mind along with the rest of my 4th grader friends and playing with the little Met Title thing. If I had a bit more time for this outing stuff, I’d have gone to see Macbeth next Friday. But then again, what’s stopping me from going to see it of my own free will anyway?

I’m feeling that this is gonna be one hell of a performance tonight.
