Overview

There are many civic organizations of the Dominican Americans that are existent in New York and in fact, throughout the country. Different organizations have different goals which they sponsor.

DANR

The one that is most recognized is the Dominican American National Round Table (DANR). This is a non-for-profit organization trying to increase the rights of the Dominican American immigrants. They are encouraged by Obama’s decision on immigrant reform. The organization also tries to increase the participation of the Dominican Americans in general. In fact, it has created organizations such as the National Youth Fellowship Program, which is for students of Dominican descent who want to promote change in their society.
