Immigration is a very stressful process, and it can cause many health problems. In order to mediate the stress, immigrants need some sort of entertainment.

Dance & Music

Dominicans are characterized by their passion for merengue and bachata. Walking on the streets of Washington Heights, a person can be easily encountered by group of people listening and dancing merengue and bachata. This is a sort of an entertainment, but it is also a statement, "I am Dominican." Dominicans identify themselves through their national music and dance, and they remember their homeland, soothing their homesickness.

Sports

Dominicans have produced a lot of successful athletes. Many of them play in major league, but there are also Dominican Athletes playing in NBA and NFL. Through these stars, Dominicans see the true American Dream and manage to pursue their goals. These players do not just entertain them, but they also support immigrants from mental and physical hardships.
