From The Peopling of New York City

Student Ko Eun (Janet) Shin came to America when she was ten years old. She lived in California for four years, until her parents decided to move to New York.

Janet attended Benjamin N. Cardozo high school, graduating with a 3.9/4.0 GPA. She excelled in Mathematics, Economics, History, and Politics. Janet was an active member of the school's Math Team for three years in a row. She contributed to the Math Team by participating in debate competitions and math competitions such as NYML (New York Math League), and AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Exam). Janet was a member of ARISTA (National Honors Student Association), and also a volunteer for the school’s college office. She helped to analyze data that was to be published to give tips on college applications for upcoming seniors. In 2006, Janet went on to attend Macaulay Honors College at the City College with an interest in Economics. She is continuing her study in Economics, and wishes to double major in English in the future.
