What Are They About?

Hatzalah provides per-hospital medical treatment to those who need it in an emergency. They do not care about language, religion or ethnicity. They are available 24/7, 365 days a year.

They provide transportation, with an impressive response time between 2-4minutes. They have over 60 ambulances in the metropolitan area.

Surprisingly enough, they do not receive government funding at all, not even reimbursement from insurance companies.

They use their own computer aided dispatch system and personally train their dispatchers to be available at any time, even if it means putting a hold on their romantic walk at the park.

On 9/11, Hatzalah were one of the first on the sceene. Many members, including everyday workers gave up their valuable time to help the cause

Where Did They Come From?

In the 1960's, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, there was a group of people that were dedicated to rushing oxygen to victims of heart attacks and strokes. They noticed that it took a long time for an ambulance to come, which caused people not to survive such tragedies. This realization gave birth to one of the most helpful organizations, Chevra Hatzalah.
