Socialservices.jpg Our Social Services Department was established 27 years ago, and currently serves over 18,000 clients per year. We provide a comprehensive spectrum of social services to the area’s underserved populations, including:

• Emergency aid/crisis intervention

• Benefits and entitlements assistance such as: Food Stamps, Medicaid, Medicare, Public Assistance, S.S.I., Soc. Sec. Disability, SCRIE and WIC.

• Immigrant services

• Refugee resettlement

• Civics and ESL for those interested in learning English and becoming naturalized.

We provide client representation and advocacy and accompany clients to Food Stamps and Medicaid offices. Our Legal Services staff can provide assistance with Fair Hearings.

• Access to 3 food pantries in Midwood, food vouchers

• Distribution of Holiday food packages [Passover time]

• Housing assistance - Referral and Section 8 information

• Free legal counsel

• Medical referrals

We offer all support assistance for the disadvantaged, seniors, single-parent families, unemployed, underemployed, displaced workers, immigrant populations, youth-at-risk, the homebound elderly and the handicapped, and anyone else in need.

Project Empowerment for Individuals & Families Impacted by September 11th

We offer programs for all those affected by the World Trade Center tragedy • Support and Grief Counseling – One-on-one Counseling and Support Groups • Employment Counseling • Job-Related Services • Referrals to Resources & Benefits available to help victims and their families.
