Entrepreneurship in Union City, New Jersey has evolved through the years. At first, the main form of industry in Union City was the textile industry. Today Union City mostly consists of restaurants, cigar stores, and a few retail stores, mainly owned by Cubans. Until the 1880s, the primary commercial area of Union City was Palisade Avenue. Today, Bergenline is the longest commercial avenue in New Jersey, with more than 300 retail stores and restaurants. Bergenline’s largest concentration of retail and chain stores begins at the intersection of 32nd Street and continues north until 92nd Street in North Bergen.
