Throughout their history, there have been many Jews who became entrepreneurs. They have organized and managed many different kinds of enterprises. Through their hard work they have become big business owners, made great strides in education, and have attained various professions.

Business owners

Many business owners in the United States are Jewish. An example would be Lawrence Ellison who is the founder of the Oracle Corporation, which is one of the major companies that develops database management systems. Another big Jewish business owner is Philippe Kahn who founded Borland which is a company that deals with all types of software. Education

There have many Jews that have made significant contributions in academics in the field of math, psychology, and science. For example, Charles Fefferman was a Jewish mathematician who won the Fields medal award for his work on mathematical analysis. Irving Janis is another Jew who is a psychologist that came up with a theory called 'groupthink' which contributed to the growth of social psychology as a whole. One of the most notable Jews that have made a significant contribution to science is Albert Einstein with his theory of relativity. These Jewish intellectuals have greatly helped the world develop in the field of education.

Professionalization

Jews have been able to attain various professions in America. Some of them have excelled greatly in their fields; some have achieving fame. A well known Jewish entertainer is Jon Stewart host of the Daily Show. This show reports political news using a comical spin. Another famous Jewish professional is Billy Joel, a well known singer and currently the sixth best selling artist in the U.S. Finally in the sports arena, Jason Lezak, is a well known olympic gold medalist for swimming.

The above-mentioned are not the only Jews who have achieved fame in their professions. Before these individuals many once poor immigrants have gained both fame and fortune after immigrated to the United States.
