12. Take a picture of a landmark (It can be one of the ones you document for task 6) and research it in the AIA guide. Glasshouse.JPG Built in 1933, the Bronx County Courthouse commands an imposing presence on the Grand Concourse. The $8 million public project provided jobs for Depression-stricken architects, sculptors and construction workers. The architectural team of Swiss Max Hausel and American Joseph Freelander molded the Bronx County Courthouse in the image of popular European architectural movements of the time. The Herald Tribune described the courthouse, with its bold mix of neoclassical and modern design, as the epitome of the “Twentieth Century American Style.” The Courthouse is over nine stories high and is a prime example of Art Deco style.
