Karishma Chawla is currently a freshman at Brooklyn College, where she is enrolled in both the Maculay Honors College and the B.A./M.D. program. In 2006, she graduated a year early from North Shore High School in Long Island to jumpstart her dream of becoming a doctor and is planning on majoring in Biology. In high school, she ran girls track and served as President of the Spanish Club and Secretary of Amnesty International. Throughout her academic career, Karishma has organized several fundraisers, and enjoys participating in events for charity. Since coming to Brooklyn College, Karishma is a member of the American Medical Students Association (AMSA) and is looking to further her interests in the field of medicine. This upcoming summer, Karishma will be interning at New York Hospital Queens, where in a clinial setting, she will have the opportunity to observe the daily happenings in several medical departments such as intensive care, surgery and pediatrics. Outside of school, she likes to sleep, read and enjoy every moment to its fullest. Karishma is best known for how fast she talks and her ever present smile. :)
