The Art Of Soccer

Throughout my week, while doing several hobbies, I realized something.  This realization was apparently something that has been existant in my justified true beliefs.  As several of my homies and I headed toward the park, I consciously acquired retained knowledge of the first day of IDC class where we discussed how soccer can be seen as an art.  As my friends and I started playing, we played using deceptive tricks.  As I began to stare at the way the players moved with the ball, it almost looked as if the players were dancing with the ball.  The rhythmic movement of the feet was seen almost as if it was coordinated.  Whenever I got the ball, this notion was set upon me.  The ball was my girlfriend; as I moved my feet, she gently followed my step and danced with me throughout the field.  Soccer can be made fancy and rhythmic if you put a little effort to see it as an art.

Perhaps we should play soccer and then I’ll be able to appreciate the same thing you did. I guess that anything can be art nowadays, art has evolved to be more conceptual, especially modern art, rather than visual.

Siwen, could you talk a bit more about what you mean when you say “art has evolved to be more conceptual”? this sounds like a very knowledgeable comment :) so I wonder if you could expand on it a bit more.

or anyone else can chime in who has something to contribute!

Well to start off, I agree with Dan and Oscar about sports being an art form when you truly learn to grasp its intricacies. But to expand on what Siwen said, I think that people now keep modifying the definition of art so that they can fit in their own ideas/works into the category of art. Also, I think that art keeps evolving because people are tired of what is already in existence and they have the urge to stand out themselves with their own works. So as a result Art can be moments of silence, a blank sheet or paper, or a cubist Piccaso painting. I just think people want to be different and not be forced to follow the norm. Well thats my limited take of what Siwen was saying
