An Inconvenient Truth

In a previous review, I wrote about how documentaries are artistic in the way it appeals to the emotions and feelings of an audience to inform them of a subject. In Al Gore’s documentary “An Inconvenient Truth,” Gore tries to use fear and guilt as a tactic. He informs the audience of the global warming situation and their role in it. Sometimes, he ends up being more preachy than necessary. This is especially annoying when he is hypocritical at times. For a guy who travels on jet planes quite frequently, he should not be admonishing others. It is still admirable on his part that he puts his effort in informing people of the situation.

I like how you pointed out Gore’s hypocrisy. It looks like your outside knowledge of the artist affected the artwork.

I watched this documentary a while ago and I thought it was very eye-opening. I like how you pointed out that documentaries can, too, be perceived as art. I think the medium in which it is presented, a film, and the way ” An Inconvenient Truth” is structured make such documentaries a great piece of art that not only enlightens us about certain issues but also is entertaining.

I also saw the movie and thought it was good. Its interesting to see how you view a documentary as an piece of art.

Wendy, I totally agree with you. Politicians always use fear to manipulate people. One more thing, we, human being, are not totally responsible for global warning. Many scientists believe global warming is caused by helium’s activity in the sun. But their voices are suppressed. If anyone wants to learn more, plz see the documentary “the greatest swindle in the world”

I feel that the topic of global warming is very interesting and should be carefully studies. Nevertheless, when i saw this movie, Al Gore managed to put me to sleep. Don’t get me wrong… i appreciate his valiant effort, but communication is key and he is not doing as great as he could be doing.
