From The Integration of Dominican, Chinese, Russian and Mexican Immigrants in NYC
My name is Fred. My parents and I immigrated to the United States from Baku, Azerbaijan when I was about 3 years old. Both of my parents are Sephardic Jews born in Baku. It was a difficult integration economically in the beginning. However, our integration in all aspects turned out to be a success. The United States was definitely the perfect refuge for my family to escape the various hardships and dangers in Azerbaijan. We have now lived in Brooklyn for almost 16 years.
