• The 69th NYSV Historical Association pays homage to Irish soldiers who fought in the Civil War.

➢ Events are held once a month and include (but are not limited to) parades, campaigns, and battle reenactments

➢ Although the group’s concentration is on the lives on Irish soldiers, membership is open to all cultural backgrounds as a perspective on American History in general is also provided


Battle Reenactments are essential part of The 69th NYSV Historical Association. Since the group is dedicated to the education of modern folk (mainly Irish) about the lives of Irish Soldiers involved in the Civil War, their actual physical involvement in the preservation of the Union is a huge part of what the association is all about. This video depicts a battle reenactment being performed by the 69th NYSV Historical Association.

• The New York Irish History Roundtable is a gathering of intellectuals who field the topic of the relationship between the Irish and New York City throughout history

➢ The group is specifically designed so that members can learn from one another as well as educate the masses

➢ Many opportunities are available under their sponsorship, from that of higher learning and best interests of tomorrow’s leaders (college scholarships) to various publications (journals and newsletters) to visual and hands on experiences (museum exhibitions, walking tours, etc.)

➢ The have also written a handful of books on the subject of their analysis (The New York Irish, The Irish Experience in NYC, Gaelic Gotham Report, and New York Irish History)

They take the information they gather individually as well as in meetings and put them out in various forms for the masses to enjoy. One of these form is through a number of books. • The New York Irish Center is a recreational facility exclusively for NYC’s Irish population

➢ This organization was founded so the city’s Irish population (young, old, and everybody in between) could comfortably fraternize with people of the same ethnic background as them

➢ It provides everything from playing cards, to dancing, all the way down to the reenactment of famous Irish theatre

➢ It also boasts high-speed internet access is thoroughly available in a cozy café setting

➢ Lastly, a toll-free helpline is always open to assist with any kind of question one could imagine


Although education may in fact be the pulse of civilization as we know it, recreation is the “psychiatric prescription” that keeps it in tact and functioning smoothly; it is rather essential in its own right.
