With a history of more than 2500 years, Buddhism is one of the most important religious influence in all of Asia. Ever since it's introduction to China in the first century AD, Buddhism has been in intergral part of the Chinese cultural identity. In Chinatown Buddhist temples serve as a major link between the old and the new world, providing the visitors with not only a familar atmorsphere to pray in, but also familiar faces to talk to. Notable Buddhist temples in Chinatown include the The China Buddhist Association, American Society for Buddhist Studies, Eastern States Buddhist Temple and Mahayana Buddhist Temple.
