The First Chinese Presbyterian Church

Eventhough Christianity did not have any major impact in China until the 19th century and Christians still face prejudices in China, there is an estimated Christian population of 30 Million in China. The Christian Community in Manhattan's Chinatown is very influencial. While one can argue that the Buddhist and Taoist temples serves as reminiscences of the old world, the Christian Churches actively help the immigrants to assimilate into the American Society. While some churches have the funding to build their own schools for the children of Chinese Immigrants, others offers English lessons as well as a place to live while the immigrants are trying to adjust to the American society.
