Next Podcast Assignment

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Dear All,

Great job on the first podcast assignments! The quality of your reviews was superb across the board! Here are some tips and instructions for your next assignment due on Wednesday:

Tips:

1. Identify your topic at the beginning of the podcast both verbally and through images.

2. Edit your narrative. If you make a mistake reading your script, it is easy to go back and edit the vocal track.

3. Manipulate your audio levels. Make sure that your music and narrative are balanced so that your audience can hear your script. Record your script in a quiet environment and speak directly into the mic to avoid echo.

4. Avoid fuzzy images. Try to use your own digital images when possible. When using a jpg, check to see if it is blurry before using it.

5. Make sure images fit in podcast frame.

6. Consider issues of value. For example, is this photo appropriate/valuable to the content of the podcast? Does this comment actually add to the podcast or take away from it?

Some of the most effective podcasts were the ones where the images and music were directly related to the narrative and helped the viewer understand the podcaster’s perspective more.

Instructions:

Because we cannot replace the Podcast Press logo with individual images, you only need to send your .m4a file to me at lhorridge@gmail.com, and I will upload them as soon as they are all in.

Again, great job! Please email me at the above address if you have any questions.

Podcast Images

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

In addition to your podcasts, please send me the image file for the first image you use in your podcast (ie: tattoo.jpg).

This image will be displayed on the blog instead of the Mighty Mouse icon from the podcasting program, PodPress.

If this is unclear, click on my name on the blog to see what I mean. I want to make sure everyone’s podcast comes up on the blog with their own images showing – not the way I have it for my sample podcast.

Thanks,

Lynn

Hello Podcasters!

When you are ready to share your podcasts tomorrow, please email them as attachments to me (lhorridge@gmail.com) and Zoe in the following format:

1. as .m4a files (Zoe and I can then change them to .mp4 extensions as needed).

2. with your first name / last name initial for the file name (ie: my file would be lynnh.m4a)

If you have any questions, please email me at my gmail address.

I will have them up and running on the blog asap! Can’t wait to see them!

How to Upload a Video

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Treat videos like documents and upload as an attachment in the “Upload” box below the post box. Leave as “link to file” and then hit “send to editor” for approval before it’s posted. Please see example above using a silly video I made using iMovie for my niece and nephew – it was my first video ever – so keep that in mind if you make it through!
