Peter Valette

From The Peopling of New York City

Peter Valette was a French merchant and slave trader who lived in the East Ward with 110 pounds wealth and no party affiliation. His slave, Tom, was discharged.

It is likely that Peter Valette from New York Burning was born around 1696 in New York and was maried to Maria Jay on June 29, 1723.[1] However, there is really nothing I found that can confirm this is true, especially after I found many more people from France with the same name, Peter Valette. Therefore, I was not able to use newspaper findings about a Peter Delancey. I tried searching for him on library catalogs by plugging in his name along with a specific detail that was given and even that did not bear any fruit.
