one man's trash is another man's treasure

Last night, while I was taking the trash to the “trash room” in my apartment complex, I noticed two pictures that someone had thrown out. One is a landscape view of a forest with vivid green leaves and brown tree trunks. The other is an enlarged view of two wine glasses and a bottle of wine. It is classy and elegant, and perfect for our dining room. After careful examination I discovered that there was nothing physically wrong with these pictures. The frames were in tact; the pictures were not ripped… so why did someone throw these out?

Meet the Artist common event

I had heard about the catastrophes of Hurricane Katrina. I knew that people had to leave their homes and that the water level had been so high that people couldn’t drive or walk safely in the streets. I had heard all this, but until last night, I had never actually seen photographs of the devastation that occurred in New Orleans.

An Evening at the Carlyle: my first independent event

Today I received a text from my friend, Adam, who invited me to an off-Broadway show. The whole thing was very last minute, as he had gotten 2 free tickets to a show at the Algonquin Theater, which is right around the corner from the 23rd street building of Baruch. We got there and were given our tickets to An Evening at the Carlyle. We were told our seats were really good because they were in the 5th row! Yes, we were seated in the 5th row… but they forgot to mention that there are only 7 rows in the theater.
