Meet the Artist- Connection through photography

I arrived to the meet the artist event exhausted, after not realizing Central Park would be in between the 6 train and the Macaulay Building and having to speed walk there so that I could make it before the speaker began. I made it just in time. When the photographer began speaking I was surprised to hear his photographs would be based on Hurricane Katrina. I remember the incident well, but as many times as I've read about it or seen the destructive pictures in the news, I never thought about it as intimately as I did throughout the presentation.

Language and Photography

Camera Lucida could probably lead to a million topics to discuss (maybe even more?)

When I opened my book I saw a little not on the corner of p 76 that said "What is meaning in terms of language" After re-reading page 76, I realize that note was clearly not for that page, but it is nonetheless a very significant topic that I cannot stop thinking about.

The Changing World

When I first read Camera Lucida, I read through it quickly, taking in each point as "elements of photography". However, after discussing it in class and re-reading some of it, I have a completely different perspective of this book.

Manipulating art

When I arrived home Thursday after class my mother asked me to upload some pictures from a recent family birthday party. Since my computer did not have any of the pictures from my camera yet I decided I would upload everything. After I did, i discovered the "edit" option of iphoto. It pretty much had standard features, such as contrast, exposure, black and white, negative, etc; things that almost all computers come with these days. Nonetheless I thought it was pretty interesting and started manipulating different pictures.
