Response to O'Connor's Reading

I was completely captivated by Joseph O'Connor's readings tonight! I loved how his writing style combined such clear and concise language with beautiful vocabulary and vivid imagery. Each piece he recited really hit me. This was another speaker that was not difficult to stay attentive to. His smooth presentation and incredible work made the event go by quickly and enjoyably. I simply loved the poem that O'Connor wrote about Baruch. It just spoke to me so much! I loved how he painted such an incredibly lively and unique picture of the environment that is our campus.

Chinese Calligraphy

Created thousands of year ago, Chinese calligraphy has been viewed as the art of fine handwriting. Unlike the western calligraphy, ink blots and some dissimilarties in Chinese calligraphy are natural and many times show meaning and expression of the writer.

Neighborhood Aspirations

The task of defining my ideal neighborhood proved to be difficult. Where I could see myself feeling at home was very different from my aspirations for the future. The conflict presented by these two ideas was something I needed to decide on before I took my picture. Growing up in Manhattan, I was sensitive to distinct neighborhood differences. The lower east side had a younger more bohemian vibe. The Upper East Side was snobby, but quaint. The Upper West Side was predominately Jewish and family oriented.
