Art Below the Surface (revised ed.)

There was a way to make one underground feel more underground. This mosaic tunnel extended in the long passageway below Bryant Park. It was an illustration of the things that are actually found underground including roots, rocks, dirt, and pipes. Regardless of the fact that the mosaic depicted ordinary things, it was still inspirational. Who created this extensive mosaic-lined tunnel? It made the long walk seem a shorter distance because my eyes were so busy following along the walls. The immense subway system that accommodates thousands of commuters each day also accommodates inspiring art pieces. It makes the subway feel like an underground interactive museum. In a city that's constantly active, which is in part thanks to the subway transportation system that never sleeps, these types of artwork give people a chance to take note of the aesthetics while they're busy on the move.

These pictures are made up of individual pieces of colored glass that came together beautifully. They resemble the diverse elements of New York City.
