art can be created with the oddest materials

In a recent episode of Project Runway, hosted by model and business woman Heidi Klum, the designers were instructed to create a garment inspired by the L.A. Times. Not only were their looks supposed to be inspired by this newspaper, but the newspaper was actually going to be their fabric as well!

Many designers were nervous and stressed because they had never created a piece of clothing out of paper before. However, the final pieces that they created were phenomenal. Not only did they construct clothing out of newspapers, but also the pieces they had created looked like they were made with actual fabric. Each piece looked so real and wearable, and, as always, looked fashionable. The clothing they created had a story, a perspective, or an idea, that the designer was trying to project.

The fact that the designers did such an amazing job with this challenge proves that art does not need to be conventional. Art is more than just paint on a canvass. Art can be found everywhere an in everything. This theory was verified further as I read some other blog posts. I read that art is found in graffiti on buildings. Art is in music. Art can even be created in sand on the sidewalk. And now I see that art can be made using newspapers too. Art really is everywhere you look. If you don’t see it right away, take a step back and look again.
