Christmas: City Art

This weekend, I left the city to visit a friend in Philadelphia. While out, I realized christmas in itself is a form of art that decorates the streets. Everywhere I went there were tons of lights on the street. I remember looking down one long avenue and seeing two rows of naked trees covered in christmas lines. Because of linear perspective, as I looked further down the street, the lights merged together. It was a perfect place to break out a camera and capture art through photography. Christmas decoration are literally everywhere. There were decorations of huge snowflakes on the streets that added a winter spirit. There were decorations on the glass walls of Starbucks.  The Macys displays with small dolls of Santa Claus and miniature size people also give off the feel of christmas.

Though this is only a seasonal decoration, I feel like this is the best kind of art. The feeling that Christmas decorations convey are clear and so easy to perceive. They are composed of feelings of warmth, love, merriment, and family affection. Despite the bitter cold, one can't help but feel a tingly feeling in their heart when these lights cross our sights. Philedelphia is beautiful, New York City is beautiful. They both have the common thread of a Christmas spirit.
