International Center of Photography :)

<!--StartFragment-->So today our IDC class went to see the International Center of Photography at the perfect time, during Fashion week. There was an exhibition of Avedon Fashion from 1944-2000 and it was really amazing. The photographs captured the style of each era it was representing. I was looking at all the photographs and I really loved the series of Mike Nichols and Suzy Parker. I thought Richard Avedon’s work was unbelievable and I really didn’t want to leave because I hadn’t seen the entire exhibition but I was running late to class so I had no choice L but I’m thinking of going back to see all the exhibitions that are being displayed this month J which brings me to the other exhibition we saw today. The John Wood: Quiet Protest exhibition was interesting to look at; the photographs were representing social and political issues of that time like the My Lai Massacre during the Vietnam War. Other photographs such as Rifle Bullets and Daisies were addressing the issue of gun violence. What I enjoyed most about the exhibition was the way John Wood could make statements through his photographic works; he didn’t have to say anything to make a point.  I think by seeing this exhibition it proves true that images can move someone more effectively than with words. This was my first trip to the International Center of Photography and it was pretty impressive and unbelievable to see so many unique photographs I really want to go back before the exhibition ends! I think photography is unique but I never really appreciated all the different types of forms of the art until Wednesday. Next time I go to the International Center of Photography I’m going to make sure I have plenty of time because there is so much to see :D<!--EndFragment-->
