Joseph O' Connor reading

I'm not sure what I was expecting for the Joseph O' Connor event, because I had never been to a reading before and I was curious to see if I would like it or not. Well I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised and it was a great experience for me. Joseph O' Connor has the ability to captivate and intrigue you when he is reading, he just makes you want to listen. I loved when he read Walt Whitman's poem "America is Singing" its a beautiful poem that describes the hard work of Americans but my favorite readings were the love letter from redemption falls and the poem at the end that described New York perfectly. When he started reading all the other excerpts I was paying attention but it wasn't something that moved me, THEN he read the love letter and I was blown away. It was just really touching and I can't imagine anyone not being moved by it. The line that I fell in love with especially was "For I believe in my atom, will never stop believing, that you and I were purposed by fate to be as one, if any two on this desolate star ever were. I cannot stop believing or hating that thought". After he read it all I kept thinking was wow i really want to read this book!! I think that says a lot about Joseph O' Connor as a writer, just by hearing him read from his book for about eight minutes he made me want to read the whole thing. Then at the end of the event, he closed by reading a poem he had recently finished that described New York exactly. I loved the way he read it, it just flowed so nicely and it was witty and I found myself thinking wow thats so true about New York and the diversity you find here. Overall I really enjoyed the whole event, I love to read  and this event really makes me want to go and find Redemption Falls written by him :D
