My New York City Art :)

For our first blog we were asked to take a picture of something we consider New York art. The first thing I thought of was “five pointz” which I always see when I take the seven train. It’s located in Long Island City and it’s probably one of the most unique pieces of outside art I have ever seen. It’s a huge factory building covered with graffiti art by various artists. The building has so many different types of graffiti art, from the writing of the names of the boroughs to the painting of famous New Yorker’s such as Al Pacino. “Five Pointz” allows any and all aerosol artists to have a chance to express themselves and show their art. These artists can paint whatever they want or whatever they feel represents them. It’s really beautiful and the reason its called “five pointz” is because it signifies the five boroughs of N.Y. I consider it New York art because it’s the expression of aerosol artists from everywhere and no two pieces of art covering the walls of the building are ever the same.  Some of the graffiti paintings are in different languages and reflects the culture and diversity of New York. It’s aerosol artists from all over the five boroughs of New York coming to one place and contributing their pieces of work to make one beautiful piece of art.
