NEW YORK FAShion

When one thinks of New York City, other cities like Paris and Milan come to mind. Why? Because these cities share more than a large population, they are centers of the fashion industry. It is in these exact places, where creativity sparks and new ideas become reality. New York City just so happens to be the most notorious ground of those previously mentioned.  Fashion designers test out their innovative ideas with those indigenous to the city, and if success is achieved here then it is inevitably a sensation elsewhere.

To start off, high-end couture is what most of society’s seems to admire. Fashion proves itself to be a form of art, since self-expression is more than obvious. Individuals dare to go against the norm, to wear what may seem to others as outrageous and preposterous. ‘What’s in’ is always changing as oversize bags become the must-have accessory, and the next season it’s hand size clutches. The beauty of fashion is in its changing nature, that is never knowing what’s next, what’s in. From runway shows to magazine photo shoots to the simple displays of stores, fashion is an art we all enjoy.

But perhaps the lesser-appreciated form of art, in fashion, is found in those who wear distinctive garments. It’s the men who flaunt their highlighter bright tee shirts with their combat boots, and the women who sport their jewelry studded jacket with three layers of clothing on. Its not that these individuals are bizarre , instead that they want to embrace their difference and shout out their emotions. If you are having the happiest day, then go ahead and wear every necklace you can fine and pair it with your favorite heels even if you’re just going to the corner. And if you are having the worst day and you want to walk around in your pajamas, that’s your prerogative. In the end the difference in styles is what is so alluring about New York City, its the reason it can beat out its competition, because of its combination of innovation and self-expression. So Rock ON!
