SNAPSHOT @ Macaulay

Although many people didn’t like the Snapshot day at the Macaulay Honors building, I personally enjoyed it. I had the chance to meet and bond with the initial friends I made in the three orientation days from the different campuses earlier in the year. I do have to agree that the assignment was vague and unclear for some parts; however, it made it more challenging in the sense that we had to use our creativity even more so. We talked for a long time about how everyone was and went straight to work. We shared ideas and created a story line based on bits and pieces of everyone’s whole ideas. Choosing the photos were actually quite time-consuming because there were many pictures that fit our story. So, we voted on each photo. The recording was fun and the actual making of the video was amusing. If my scheduled time was earlier in the morning, I believe that I would not have enjoyed it as much because it was on a Sunday like most my classmates in class. Luckily, I had my schedule late in the afternoon. We spent almost two and half hours there trying to add music, cut and paste scenes, and adding newer ideas. Another aspect that I liked was the actual viewing of our videos. Many of the groups sat in the screening room and were able to see everyone else’s masterpiece. Our video started with the creepy staircase, which was provided by Sara Sander’s photo. Then it goes into the exploration of NYC arts such as graffiti and musicians. At last, we ended with a picture of an angel to show we left the creepy staircase into “enlightenment” flying away in the sky.
