Way of Life

People say a picture can represent a thousand words and with this picture it does. The three main objects presented on the dinner table can exemplify an entire American/ New York culture, way of life, tradition, and even the economy. From the well-established and traditional thirst quencher, Coca-Cola, to the newer and healthier fast food giant, Subway, to the clock that represents the essential piece to all American’s and New Yorker’s life, we, as Americans and New Yorkers alike, can relate to each item. Subways epitomize the chain restaurants so prevalent in every borough of New York City and throughout the whole country. It creates jobs through the establishment of the giant firm to each store around the corners of each block in New York. The same goes for Coca-Cola, one of the oldest and distinguished soft drinks in history of soft drinks. It’s in every store, restaurant, and almost every household. When one mixes subway and coca-cola, one has a simple sample of an American lunch or even dinner. However, not everyone eats or drinks with these brand named food and soft drink companies, but all can relate to either seeing, recognizing or relating to similar brand named food companies such as McDonalds or Pepsi. At last, the clock sums it all up. This very object ties the other two objects because as New Yorkers, we are all on a sensitive time schedule. Getting to work on time, to rushing through lunch in order to finish the workload on time, to catching the 6:30PM ferry to get home for dinner on time, we’re all on a timely sensitive manner.  All in all, art is a form of expression, whether it’s in a form of a picture, painting, or an object. The meaning of art can be boundless to some and others it could be the total opposite. Ultimately, it’s up to each person to decide upon.
