Innovative Art: John Wood

Arriving early to the International Center of Photography, I strolled by many works of art. There were a couple of pieces that caught my eye before entering John Wood's exhibit. The pieces had a theme of evil vs. good, dark vs. light, red and black vs. white and naturally God vs. the devil. The photos were nicely color coordinated and strongly characterized between the sins of the world, represented with red and black colors, and the good of the world, represented by light beige and white colors.

23rd and 5th Avenue Unique Art

Walking past 23rd and 5th Avenue on a Tuesday afternoon, something caught the glimpse of my eye. Sparkling colors of purple, green and light blue were decorated on the floor by an artist’s hand. He didn’t use markers, spray paint or a brush; he simply used colored sand. Yes, it shocked me as well because it was so unique in my eyes. The people walking paused just like me and stared at the art that the artist created in real time.

Way of Life

People say a picture can represent a thousand words and with this picture it does. The three main objects presented on the dinner table can exemplify an entire American/ New York culture, way of life, tradition, and even the economy. From the well-established and traditional thirst quencher, Coca-Cola, to the newer and healthier fast food giant, Subway, to the clock that represents the essential piece to all American’s and New Yorker’s life, we, as Americans and New Yorkers alike, can relate to each item.
