Carnegie Hall

 I would love to have more to say about the Carnegie Hall concert, but classical music, although ACJW wasn't exactly classical, is not something that I can relate to or talk much about. I played many musical instruments as a child so I understand musical phrasing and can identify famous classical pieces but every single time that I go to a concert like that I fall asleep.  I just cannot relate to that kind of music.

China Festival Music Breakdown

The China Festival at Carnegie Hall was an enjoyable experience. Although I don't play any instruments and the music at the concert wasn't anything that I put on my mp3 player, I was paying close attention to the performers and the way they were playing. The first pianist was boring me a bit in the beginning because he started off slow and somber. Then, suddenly, he hit a very fast "Tom and Jerry" pace. I noticed that he had a look of intense concentration throughout.

Reflections on Carnegie Hall Visits

I have to admit that our meeting with the artistic director of Carnegie Hall was not quite what I had hoped it would be. He didn't really give much insight as to what his role is at Carnegie Hall, and I felt like he spent more time promoting the venue than he did expressing his love for his job or his appreciation for the arts. It was interesting to hear about the amount of planning that goes into creating events like the Chinese Festival, but I think I would've liked a more personal perspective on what it is like to have a career in the art world.

class of 1978

 I was really excited when I heard we were going to be attending a concert at Carnegie Hall. I have never been to Carnegie Hall but of course I've heard of it so I knew it was going to be a really unique experience. I have to say that before even learning about the concert we were going to attend , I had assumed it was going to be classical music similar to what we hear on the radio when we tune into a classical music station. Then I heard we were going to go see the "Class of 1978", which was comprised of Chinese composers, and I was honestly surprised.
