Fashion and photography

I had to leave the International Museum of photography early so I didn't get to see the Avandon exhibit. I've been reading the other blogs about fashion and photgraphy. While reading them I thought of Twiggy. In case you are wondering who Twiggy is, she is the world's first supermodel. She became very famous during the 1960s. When she was 16 years old she was photgraphed by Barry Lategan. He gave her the nickname Twiggy. She was only 91 pounds and very bony. This was very unlike many of the other models and woman of the time. Many women were housewives. Twiggy's style was the complete opposite to that of a housewife. Her stlye was very mod and revealing. She was known as the anti-woman because of the way she looked. The photgraphs Twiggy can be seen in combine pop art and her mod stlye. They capture the colorful, unique vibe of the 60s. I think Twiggy is a great example of how fashion photography can inspire a whole movement. Twiggy's style was followed by many people. The long eylashes and the short dresses were copied by many people. Mattel even made a Twiggy Barbie Doll. Twiggy was on lunchboxes, board games and many magazine covers. A new, unusual, unique style thats caputured in a photgraph can inspire millions. Ad campaigns today try to capture this spirit.
