*A Special Interview with Mildred Coleman, Prominent Member of the Black Community*

From The Peopling of New York City

Below is an audio recording of an exclusive interview with a prominent member of the black community on Eastern Parkway, and a representative and authority on the Afro-Caribbean enclaves on the Parkway. She is the director of the Five Block Daycares Center. Having lived on Eastern Parkway since the '60s, Mrs. Coleman has witnessed first hand the changes that have occurred in the neighborhood. She has seen the white flight from Eastern Parkway, the infamous Crown Heights Riot, the influx of West Indian immigrants, the slow but noticeable trickle of Asians and Latinos, and the possibility of gentrification in the future.
