Class Discussion

Yesterdays class discussion got me thinking about many things. When we were discussing whether or not the director of a production is enslaved by the author I immedietly thought no. The author of a production is the author, they have their own interpretations of what they've written. The director is simply basing his production on what the author has written. He may use the authors opinion and may not. Ultimately I think the director can do what he wants with a work. Many times directors create works on their interpretations of wha the author has written.

Carnegie Hall Concert

The concert at Carnegie Hall we went to last Monday was my first concert of that kind. I've been to concerts before but obviously the experinece you get from a concert at Carnegie Hall is way different then the one you get at a Metallica concert. I really enjoyed the concert at Carnegie Hall. I really was unsure whether or not it would interest me. When I walked into the room where the concert was being held, I was suprised that it was so small. I actually really liked the fact that it was a small auditorium. That room was beautiful.

Where the Wild Things Are Warning!!

I am writing this blog to respond to Sara's blog about Where the Wild Things Are. I saw the moive when it first came out. From watching the previews I thought I would be seeing a happy childrens movie. I read the book as a child and loved the story. The book has only 32 words in it. I thought the whole movie would be a happy story about the little boy finding the wild things and having fun with them but ulitimately learning that home is the place to be. Because the book was so short, a new story had to be filled in. I found the movie very depressing and sad.

Fair at Madison Square Park!!!!

This past Thursday I had three hours to kill before class. It was such a beautiful day that I decided to go to Madison Square Park and get some work done. As I walked over to the park from my bus stop I saw all of these little tiny booths set up along the street. As I got closer I saw that a little marketplace was set up around the park. Different people set up booths and were selling all of this really cool merchandise. A lot of the stuff for sale were things these people created. I walked around and saw a bunch of cool things. One woman had handbags made from candy wrappers.

Joseph O' Connor Reading

The reading we went to yesterday was both exctiting and intriguing. I have never been to a reading before and I was happy that it was an enjoyable experience . Writing is something I love to do. It really interested me to listen to Joseph O'Connor and to learn how a writer begins writing. I always have trouble getting the ideas that I have down on paper. When I travel to and from school I get inspired by what I see. Stories and characters pop into my mind but when I begin to write down what I think of, it never comes out the same.
