Walking tour-lower manhattan

From The Peopling of New York City

To begin our investigation into the lives of the slave owners we followed their footsteps in Colonial New York. Our walking tour began on Pearl St. and ended at the site of the African Monument Burial Grounds.

New York City 1741

This is the New York City where our slave owners and slaves lived in 1741. New York City was subdivided into wards: They were the East, Dock, West, North, Upper North (Montgomery) and South wards.
