Slave Owners

From The Peopling of New York City

The slave conspiracy of 1741 is an often neglected event in the history of New York City, and our group went on an expedition into the lives of fifty of the slave owners who lived during that era. Each of the members of our groups was assigned five such slave owners. Our investigation led us to several genealogy databases, city directories, and old documents and manuscripts, which aided us in uncovering the lives of these slave owners and their impact on New York City.
