Macaulay Reading Event

The event on Thursday was pretty interesting to say the least. Each poet who recited their work had a different style and way of delivering their poems. My favorite from all of the artists at the event was the second one, Jamal. He recited his work with such a fast pace that it almost seemed like he was freestyle rapping. I enjoyed this aspect of when he read and it made me pay attention even more closer. I loved how his poems touched on the subject of war and those effected by it because it was completely uncensored and felt like it was an "in your face" type of poem.

class of 1978

 I was really excited when I heard we were going to be attending a concert at Carnegie Hall. I have never been to Carnegie Hall but of course I've heard of it so I knew it was going to be a really unique experience. I have to say that before even learning about the concert we were going to attend , I had assumed it was going to be classical music similar to what we hear on the radio when we tune into a classical music station. Then I heard we were going to go see the "Class of 1978", which was comprised of Chinese composers, and I was honestly surprised.

fall for dance

I realized I never wrote about Fall for Dance which I really enjoyed ! I love to watch dance and so I was naturally excited to go see Fall for Dance. Out of all the performances, my favorite was the reinterpretation of Afternoon of a Faun dance just because I thought it was really unique and different. It was quirky and odd and I was just staring trying to figure out what it all meant. I know a lot of people thought it was homoerotic, but I saw it different I thought it was more like two fauns loving and nurturing each other regardless of gender.

Joseph O' Connor reading

 I'm not sure what I was expecting for the Joseph O' Connor event, because I had never been to a reading before and I was curious to see if I would like it or not. Well I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised and it was a great experience for me. Joseph O' Connor has the ability to captivate and intrigue you when he is reading, he just makes you want to listen.
