My name is Justin Koyithara. I live in Rockland County but during school I stay in the Upper East Side. My parents moved from India in their early 20s to the Bronx which is where I was born. I plan on double majoring in Actuarial Science and Economics here at Baruch. I am very connected with my ethnicity and the Indian Community. It has been a very different experience for me in New York City coming from somewhere that is very sub-urban without much ethnic variety. While making this site, my main focus was on how the communities were perceived by outsiders and insiders. I learned that what many outsiders see and believe about a community are just misconceptions produced by the media.
