Hi everyone! My name is Shelley (Jia Sha) Jiang. I am currently a student at Baruch College pursuing a degree in Finance. I have lived in New York City for more than half of my life but never knew much about the neighborhoods that exist in New York City. After doing this project, I came to know more about Chinatown - its enriching history, people’s perceptions of Chinatown, and mouth-watering food that exist there. I also learned about the existence of Brighton Beach and stereotypes that are associated with it. Through readings, I was exposed to various immigrant groups, and their experiences and stories. The class also triggered my interest in learning more about Asian Americans in the U.S.
