1974-- Asian American activists protest the construction of Confucius Plaza
 Activists protest in Chinatown, complaining that Chinese Americans have received few if any jobs from the construction of the plaza. Many of the activists felt that since the plaza was to be built in Chinatown, they should be the ones working on it. The Construction company promises to change its policies but doesn’t.
