Take the Census—and Help Macaulay

This spring, Macaulay students Kimberly Wyllie and Iris Chen, interns in the CUNY Census Corps, have been working to spread the news about #Census2020. Here, they share their top 3 reasons for YOU to make sure the people in your households are counted in this important decennial event.

 

  • The census affects the QUALITY OF EDUCATION. It is used to determine funding to schools, libraries and even student loans and financial aid.
  • The census affects STUDENTS’ FUTURE CAREERS – many professionals like medicine, social work, nursing, science, research, or public health are heavily dependent on Federal funding
  • The census affects our COLLECTIVE POLITICAL POWER. It is used to determined congressional seats for each state and New York is at risk of losing two more seats in the House of Representatives
