Saranna Belgrave-Banton is an avid learner, mentor, science educator, and scientist driven by curiosity and a long-standing desire to make science accessible to those interested in learning and engaging with it. Leveraging more than a decade of research in behavioral neuroscience, design and implementation of scientific research access programming for a range of different audiences, she has confidently explored innumerable opportunities to build a concrete foundation in STEM engagement and advocacy.

She embraces opportunities to support students in feeling empowered to curate the STEM career paths that they envision for themselves through guided reflection, supporting development of self advocacy, experiential education and strategic planning of next steps students take along their career path.

She earned her PhD from the CUNY Graduate Center and is an Assistant Adjunct professor in the department of biological sciences at Hunter College CUNY (her alma mater) joyfully cultivating understanding and excitement for science in undergraduate students since 2009 in a supportive environment of information sharing, genuine interest, and student empowerment from a comprehensive and culturally sensitive perspective.
