How long should the essay be? What are the topics/prompts for the essay?

You must submit two pieces of writing that are each no more than 500 words each: one in response to a prompt provided by Macaulay, while the second piece can be an existing writing sample as long as it conforms to our guidelines. The essay prompt and writing sample guidelines

What are the admissions requirements? How will Macaulay Honors review applications?

Macaulay reviews applications using a combination of academic and personal factors, including: transcripts, extracurricular activities, community service, personal initiative and leadership qualities, recommendation letters, essays, and in some cases Interviews. Does Macaulay use the Common App?

No, Macaulay Honors does not participate in the Common App. All applicants must complete and submit the Macaulay application, which will open on September 1st. You can find more information on our website: https://macaulay.cuny.edu/admissions/applying-to-macaulay/

Is the tuition scholarship provided to all Macaulay students?

The Macaulay tuition scholarship is provided to all New York State residents who have completed the required FAFSA forms. Note that the FAFSA forms must be completed by April 15 for all incoming freshman students. Do I apply to the Macaulay Honors program or to one of the specific CUNY campuses?

When you apply to Macaulay Honors, you first choose up to 6 campuses for general admission, and then you select the ONE campus you are interested in attending for Macaulay. You can find more information on our website: https://macaulay.cuny.edu/admissions/applying-to-macaulay/

When can I begin my application? When is the application due?
