Macaulay Honors College engages in on-going assessment of academic and AES (administrative, educational, and student support) units as a critical part of our overall institutional effectiveness strategy. We are committed to continuous improvement and strive to meet our student learning goals.
The assessment process at the unit and course level includes identifying goals, articulating and measuring outcomes, summarizing results, and using results for improvement.
Assessment activities are coordinated by the Office of Institutional Strategy and Planning and is supported by the work of the Macaulay Assessment Committee.
AES Assessment
Development and implementation of an AES assessment plan includes: defining the unit’s mission and goals (in the context of the CUNY and Macaulay strategic plans); mapping activities and initiatives to the mission, goals, and strategic plan(s); conducting assessment; and using assessment results to inform next steps.

Macaulay Honors College Assessment Committee Charge:
The Macaulay Assessment Committee reviews, recommends, and consults on assessments of the college’s academic and non-academic units in accordance with the college’s mission, vision, and goals.
Specifically, the Committee:
- Provides support for development, implementation of unit assessments.
- Review and recommend policies for reporting of assessment data.
- Promotes a culture of student-centered learning and learning assessment throughout the college.
- Consult with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to facilitate college-wide discussion regarding AES Assessment.
