Pooja Suganthan

Pooja Suganthan 2023 Macaulay at Hunter College

Pooja Suganthan is a Biology major and Psychology minor at Hunter College. Pooja is a recipient of the John P. McNulty Scholarship and the Horace W. Goldsmith Scholarship, which Pooja used to study Spanish in Argentina. Pooja was President of Macaulay Peer Mentors & Orientation Leaders and a dancer on Macaulay Deewane, CUNY’s Bollywood dance team. Pooja graduated as a Salutatorian. She has accepted a job offer as a medical scribe and will apply to medical school in the upcoming cycle.

In Spring 2020, she published a research abstract with her mentor, Dr. Jasti from Queens College. At Hunter, she began writing for the Society of Bioethics & Medicine. In Summer 2020, she completed the Summer Clinical Oncology Research Exerpeince at Memorial Sloan Kettering. She presented and won awards at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students and Hunter Summer Research Symposium. Starting in Fall 2021, she conducted neuroscience research at the Liston Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine and won 1st Place for her presentation at the Hunter Undergraduate STEM Research Conference.

Suha Chaudhury

Suha Chaudhury 2023 Macaulay at Baruch College

Suha Chaudhury is an Economics major and Law & Policy minor on a pre-law track. She was the President of the Scholars Council this past year where she was able to advocate on behalf of students on various issues like advising and inclusive food options. She is a recipient of the Baruch Dr. Susan A. Locke and Joyce Brown Class of 1991 awards for selfless student service. She also won the Exemplary Leadership and Mountain Lion awards presented by Macaulay Student Development.

Suha is very passionate about giving back to those in need. For two years, she served as a CUNY Student Food Navigator where she provided direct 1:1 aid to food-insecure students. During this time, she was also a mentor to low-income freshman students to ensure they have all the resources they needed to survive their first year of college. From 2021-2022, she was a member of the Fera Foundation to provide remote therapy and education services to orphan girls in Bangladesh. She is currently working as a College Assistant at Macaulay Student Development and is planning to apply to law school in the Fall.

Joseph Abraham

Joseph Abraham 2023 Macaulay at Baruch College

Joseph Abraham is a Finance and Investments major at Baruch with a double minor in Political Science and New York City Studies. In July, Joseph will begin his career at Deutsche Bank as an investment banking analyst in New York City. This past year while completing his studies, Joseph interned for Triangle Capital Group, a distressed debt private equity group, and some prior internships include interning at Morning Brew and Calder Associates – a boutique M&A firm. In 2021, along with three other fellow Baruch students, Joseph co-founded Magen Capital Research, a research firm with a subscriber base of over 1000 readers, focusing on macroeconomic conditions, equities, commodities, and emerging markets.

At Baruch, Joseph served as a lead equities analyst at 50Five Capital, the student-run hedge fund. He represented Baruch in the National Fed Challenge in 2020 and was chosen as one of 18 students to join the Financial Leadership Program at Baruch in the Fall of 2021.

Hunter Moran

Hunter Moran 2023 Macaulay at Hunter College

Hunter Moran majored in Economics on the pre-med track with minors in Public Policy and Music. Before matriculating into medical school to become a physician-scientist, Hunter will pursue a Fulbright Research Scholarship to serve as an epidemiology research assistant in Copenhagen, Denmark. He will investigate the socioeconomic impacts of Inflammatory Bowel Disease using a Danish database that has been collecting medical and social information on the population since 1978. During his time as a student, Hunter was a Co-president of the Macaulay Ambassadors, Treasurer of the Macaulay Peer mentors, the Vice Chair of the Hunter College Senate, a student representative on the Presidential Search Committee, and a member of the men’s varsity volleyball team.

 

Haseeb Khan

Haseeb Khan Macaulay at Brooklyn College

Haseeb Khan is a Computer Science major with a minor in Data Science at his home campus, Brooklyn College. Throughout his academic journey, he has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, dedication to learning, and a passion for technology. During his undergraduate years, Haseeb held 3 technical internships from both startups to large-sized companies. Outside of academics and internships, Haseeb has actively participated in extracurricular activities. Throughout his four years, Haseeb has volunteered for the Macaulay Building as a Student lounge volunteer and peer mentor for the incoming students. In his final year, he restarted the Computer Science club and served as its president in his final year.

Post-graduation, Haseeb plans on furthering his education after being accepted into a master’s in Computer Science – Computation M.S.

James Brischetta

James Brischetta 2023 Macaulay at Brooklyn College

Elected a member of the Macaulay Scholars Council his freshman year, James has served on the student government all four years of college. On the council, he served as the vice president of student life, where him and his committee were responsible for planning and executing all of the colleges parties and large events, like the Halloween Party, Spring Formal, and the Freshman Mixers.
He has been on the executive board of 2 Macaulay Clubs; Editor-in-Chief of the Messenger and Founding member of the Content Creators. He has also been a member of Peer Mentors, Theater Club, and Macaulay Scribe.

As the Content Creator‘s club grew into an organization that lived within Macaulay‘s marketing department, he became one of the main faces of Macaulay’s TikTok account, and ran multiple campaigns on their socials.

James began working at Macaulay as a college assistant at the beginning of this year, where he’s worked closely with student development to ensure the success of clubs and student life, and he’s applied to work full time at Macaulay in the role of Student Inclusion Coordinator.
