Olivia Sudol is a recent graduate of The City College of New York, who majored in Psychology with a minor in Anthropology. She has just completed her undergraduate thesis, titled “Groovy Music: Songs Across the Lifespan”, which is founded in the fields of developmental psychology and ethnomusicology. She also works in many cultural institutions such as Lincoln Center, The Tenement Museum, and The New York Historical Society. She hopes to pursue a Master’s Degree in museum studies or collections and curating practices. This education will build upon her previous museum experience and allow her to delve deeper into the field of museum studies.

Olivia also has volunteered with Invisible Hands, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting food insecurity, since Fall 2020. She is a member of the Invisible Hands Student Leadership Council, which focuses on expanding the mission of Invisible Hands through discussing new ideas and networking. She was awarded the Invisible Hands Student Leadership Award for my outstanding leadership and commitment towards ending food insecurity.

Janet Akselrud is a May 2023 graduate of the Macaulay Honors College at CUNY CSI. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a minor in Spanish, achieving honors in Mathematics by completing a thesis about the connection between Math and Argentine Tango.

Janet has a talent for building stories and making connections between different fields. She is the curator of the art exhibit “Good Things Come in… Trees” on display at the CSI library for the summer of 2023, and a soon to be published author of the poetry book “Growing Wings” which includes several modern physics references.

During her college career, Janet studied abroad over half a dozen times, exploring environmental science, sustainability, education, Spanish, and Argentine tango. She will continue to travel by moving to Spain in September 2023, where she will work with students aged 3-12 teaching English.

Moving forward, Janet is interested in a creative and analytical career, at the intersection of different fields, including but not limited to: mathematics, the arts, and education.

Xin Yan Zhu Jiang is a biology major with a minor in psychology. She currently works as a Youth Consultant for the Staten Island Partnership of Community Wellness (SIPCW) where she serves as a youth voice in mental health awareness, addiction, and food insecurity. She is also a Research Assistant in Professor Leora Yetnikoff’s lab where her research and honors thesis focused on identifying dopamine synaptic input to OPCs using a modified rabies retrograde strategy.

In her sophomore year, Xin Yan was as a student panelist at the Speak Out Against Anti-Asian Hate talk. This led her to found the Asian American Pacific Islander Club at CSI with the goal to spread awareness and education on the harmful (and false) stereotypes about the AAPI community. She also served as a Macaulay Peer Mentor and a CSI Macaulay Peer Mentor where she provided guidance and mentorship to Macaulay freshmen during her junior and senior years.

Xin Yan is currently working towards her Masters in Public Health as part of the Macaulay SPH 4+1 pipeline program and is expected to graduate in May 2024.

Erin Foo is a Communication Sciences and Disorders major and a Psychology and Honors in the Social Sciences double minor. Currently, she works as an NSF Intersection of Linguistics Research Fellow where she studies play in Cantonese autistic children. Starting in Fall 2021, Erin served as the Vice President of Campus Affairs where she fostered community for club leaders. She is also the recipient of the Queens College Retirees Association Professor Elizabeth Lowe Scholarship and the Marilynn and Barrett Slavic Scholarship endowment.

Throughout her four years, Erin served as a tutor for people with disabilities, worked as a student life intern for Macaulay student development, served as a CUNY Cultural Corps intern for Art Beyond Sight amplifying voices of artists with disabilities, and worked as a Macaulay peer mentor servicing freshmen during the pandemic and back in person. Over the summer, Erin will be working as a Leadership Specialist teaching leadership skills to kids in grades K-5. In the fall, Erin will be attending the Masters of Speech Pathology program at Queens College
