Chiandredi Johnson

Chiandredi Johnson '21 (Baruch)

Chiandredi (CJ) Johnson ’21 is an accounting major with a minor in NYC Studies. She has served as an Honors Program Ambassador, Honors Program Peer Mentor, and an intern at PwC through their Preview, Start, Start Mastery, and Advance programs. Additionally, CJ is a participant in Baruch’s Women of Color Leadership program. She is also a frequent writer for the program’s newsletter, sharing tips on an array of topics such as financial freedom and hair care. Also, she is the Co-President of the Pre-Law Society. Her long-term goal is to attend law school and become a Real-Estate/M&A Tax attorney.

After graduation, CJ will be continuing to the Masters in Taxation program at Baruch. She will also be joining PWC’s Real Estate Tax Group. Furthermore, she has volunteered with Services for the Underserved, and the NYC Animal Care Center. In her free time, she plays on a rugby team.

Devjani Paul

Devjani Paul '21 (City)

Devjani Paul ’21 is a Biology major at City College of New York. Through the Macaulay Honors College 4+1 pipeline program with the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health, she is also simultaneously pursuing her Master’s of Public Health in community and global health.

During her time at Macaulay Honors College, Devjani was selected as a William R. Kenan Scholar for her work in community service and civic engagement. As one of the refounders and co-presidents of the Macaulay Diversity Initiative, she has also been advocating to increase racial equity and diversity in her school’s community and looks forward to continuing to be involved as an alum. Currently, Devjani is working as a resource navigator with the NYC Test and Trace Corps to keep New Yorkers safe from the SARS-COV-19 virus. After graduating, she aims to earn her doctorate in public health in the hopes of pursuing a career to help vulnerable communities through public health crises.

Ana LuoCai

Ana LuoCai '21 (City)

Ana LuoCai is a political science major and public policy minor at the City College of New York. This past Spring, she was an intern with the Long Island City Partnership and is currently a We Power NYC Ambassador Mentor with the New York City Campaign Finance Board.

On campus, she was the Communications Coordinator for the Philippine American Organization during her sophomore year and was the recipient of the S Jay Levy Fellowship for Future Leaders, the Edward I. Koch Fellowship in Public Service, and the 2019 Macaulay Alumni Opportunities Fund. Off campus, she has held eight internship positions ranging from local government, think tanks, and non-profits which she considers the highlight of her undergraduate career. In addition to her work on and off campus, she has also been working at the same food service job since her freshman year.

Upon graduation, Ana will be working with All In Together, a nonprofit that empowers and educates women to participate civically and politically. Further down the road, she also has plans to pursue a graduate degree in public policy.

Tasmim Hoque

Tasmim Hoque '21 (Lehman)

Tasmim Hoque is an Interdepartmental Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry aka the “ABC” major with a Health Education and Promotion minor. As a science enthusiast with a great love for learning about different human cultures, Tasmim knew the ABC major would be a perfect fit for her. To explore her research interest, as a freshman Tasmim began searching for research faculty at Lehman who could mentor her and joined the Redenti Lab where she works on stem cell-based treatments for blindness. Along with working in the lab, Tasmim also has a passion for teaching. When she discovered the Peer Health Exchange (PHE) program at Hunter, she reached out to NYC’s PHE director to establish a chapter at Lehman so she and her peers can also have the opportunity to teach health education to students in under-resourced high schools. Her time as a health educator and clinical volunteer to serve New York’s most vulnerable communities has solidified her decision to work in the medical field so she can have a larger platform to continue serving others.

Shana Mathew

Shana Mathew '21 (Brooklyn)

Shana Mathew ’21 is a Chemistry and Psychology double major with a minor in neuroscience. She was President of Brooklyn College’s chapter of SPARK, an organization that teaches lessons surrounding self-esteem, leadership, and anti-bullying in local elementary schools. She also served as the worship leader for her chapter of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, as copy editor for the campus newspaper, and as Vice President of Desi Culture Club. Aside from clubs, she was a research assistant in both biochemistry and educational psychology labs on campus and studied abroad to China in January of 2019.

In June 2019, Shana participated in a Global Medical Brigade to Panama. Currently, she volunteers with The Bridge NYC by conducting a weekly arts and crafts groups for individuals recovering from mental illness and substance abuse. Additionally, she is a volunteer working with senior residents in an assisted living facility. Next year, Shana will be attending the Masters Program in General Psychology at Stony Brook University and hopes to pursue a career in clinical psychology.

Shainu George

Shainu George '21 (Brooklyn)

Shainu George is a Psychology major and a Business Law minor at Brooklyn College. She spent her four years at Brooklyn, serving on SPARK- a volunteer initiative set to teach young kids about self esteem, leadership and anti-bullying. As Vice President of the club, she spearheaded the clubs visits to NYC public elementary schools. Shainu also served in Global Medical Brigades for two years and accompanied them on two trips to Panama. She helped rural, undeserved communities by taking vitals, finding medication and helping clean teeth. In her free time, Shainu also enjoys dancing. She is proud to say that she helped start Brooklyn Bahaadur, Brooklyn College’s only Bollywood Fusion dance team. Through the team’s multiple championships, she helped raise money for charities like the Trevor Project, an organization that provides crisis intervention for the LGBTQ+ community.

Rebecca Gorovoy

Rebecca Gorovoy '21 (Queens)

Rebecca Gorovoy is a Neuroscience and Psychology double major. Throughout college, she has been actively involved with the Macaulay Scholars Council and served as the Vice President of Community Service for the past academic year. She has also been a research assistant at the Growing Minds Lab at Queens College for the past three years, and has assisted with research on working memory and naturalistic memory. Professionally, she has worked as an afterschool/summer camp counselor at a nonprofit program for many years, interned at the ed tech company Mindsage, and worked as a college bridge coach for CUNY’s College Bridge For All program. In Fall 2021, she will begin the Masters of Arts in Teaching program at Queens College in order to become an elementary general and special education teacher.

Olivia Frasca

Olivia Frasca '21 (CSI)

Olivia Frasca is a Political Science major with minors in Economics and Business. She has supported constituents extensively in the public sector as a Correspondence Liaison at the NYC Mayor’s Office and Legislative Intern for NYS Assemblyman Michael Cusick. With student advocacy close to her heart, she also served as Politics Editor for The Banner newspaper and as Deputy Commissioner for Academic & Curricular Affairs on CSI’s Student Government.

Olivia’s passions for service and volunteerism are boundless; she organized fundraising efforts for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and led the largest government outreach initiative for the American Red Cross Greater New York Region. As a natural relationship-builder and problem-solver, Olivia strives to pursue a career where she can empower others to make a difference in their communities, just like she has at Macaulay.

Kimberly Wyllie

Kimberly Wyllie '21 (Queens)

Kimberly Wyllie is a Psychology and Political Science double major with a minor in Honors in the Humanities. During her time at Queens College, she became a NYPIRG intern, where she committed to advocating for students and social justice. Kim also interned for the CUNY Census. She strived to get students and their families to complete the census, stressing the importance of bringing funding to their communities. During Spring 2019, Kim obtained the Kenan Scholarship, a Macaulay Honors scholarship dedicated to community service. As a Kenan scholar, she volunteered in Ecuador, spending time tutoring in English and reading to kids. Kim took on the role of president of the Political Science Club during her junior and senior years, hosting educational events and panels. Within her senior year, she also joined the student senate. Upon completion of her credits, Kim applied for early graduation. During, what would have been her final spring semester, Kim spent her time studying for the LSAT and applying to law schools. She now looks forward to attending Northeastern Law School.

 

Gianna Simonelli

Gianna Simonelli '21 (CSI)

Gianna Simonelli is graduating from Macaulay’s CSI campus with a Bachelor of Science degree in Corporate Communications, and minors in Marketing and Finance. Throughout her college career, she has maintained Dean’s List, two remote employment positions, and eight internship opportunities with various government agencies, non-profit organizations, and for-profit entities in New York City and beyond. Her education and professional experience in the Business and Communications sectors are highlighted by her creative abilities, well-rounded work ethic, and passion to contribute to socially-responsible programs, which were all fostered during her time at the Macaulay Honors College. In the future, she plans to travel, pursue her professional career, and go on to obtain a Master’s Degree.
